If you plan to put a water pipe through a basement wall, you have to remember about waterproofing basement walls to avoid leaks around water lines. That kind of leaks may be due to the groundwater getting to the openings pierced through the wall during the installation of the water line. Such openings lay out a direct path for water getting into the basement.

To keep away or Fix Water Leaks several methods have been used.

Waterproofing with caulk or cement is short lived due to the processes of efflorescence of caulk and deterioration of cement under the water pressure.

Much stronger than caulk or cement is epoxy injections or sometimes grout. Yet, they harden slowly and are quite rigid, hence, can be broken as the wall stretches or contracts.

Polyurethane seal is a much better solution to fix leaks in the basement wall.  Polyurethane bonds with wet and dry materials and fills out the smallest gaps making a powerful seal. In addition, this material can expand and contract that guarantees solidity of Waterproofing. In case of failure, only about 5% of the water will go through. In addition, the foam will direct it to the dry hole securing the wall. Polyurethane consolidates well with concrete as well as with plastic, copper, steel and iron pipes.
