Pipe Bursting Method
Pipe Bursting is a revolutionary trenchless technology for renovation of pipelines and replacement of deteriorating pipes with smaller or larger diameter new ones without physical replacement of the existing pipe. The new pipe with a bursting tool on its leading side is pulled in behind through the old pipe in a manhole by the winch Pipe Bursting Method. The deteriorated pipe broken parts are compressed into the soil during the bursting process.
Brief History
Pipe Bursting Technology was developed in Britain to solve the existing problem with aging water, gas, sewer lines in exceedingly congested areas. Existing open cutting was not possible because of high operational cost.
This new technology also enables to upsize a pipeline to enable future growth of the infrastructure.
Benefits
Eliminates or reduces:
- unnecessary excavations (up to 85%)
- risk of utility failure as follows existing utility lay out
- costs
- traffic disruption
- contamination
- excessive earth work and pavement reworks
- saves time
Types of pipes
The universal and commonly used for replacement is a HDPE corrugated plastic pipe. Various modifications of plastic pipes are available for different domestic and business applications for Plumbing Pipe Repair and Drainpipe Repair. For Drainpipe Repair available are plastic drainpipes, Perforated Drainpipes Flexible Drainpipes. Flexible Drainpipe heads the wastewater in the required direction.
